I am usually pretty terrible about using scraps and small pieces of fabric. But a few months ago Amanda Jean posted about some doll quilts she had been making. I simply couldn't resist. I made the girls one each for Christmas, along with matching pillows and cases. I used scraps and bright fabrics they loved. Then, I was asked to come up with a basic sewing project for a mini class at church, and a doll quilt was perfect. They come together so fast, don't take too much fabric, and are great for practicing new quilting stitches. All fabric used in the above quilt were scraps and leftovers from other things. I free motion quilted little daisies and loops, I love they way they look. The white fabric actually has little shiny polka dots on it-LakeHouse I believe. And the big flowers are Michael Miller. I backed it with a fat quarter that is pink with white polka dots.Sophie has been using this quilt all over the place. She tucks in all sorts of dolls and action figures. Covers up the play kitchen sink with it, and uses it as a lap quilt when she is in her stroller. It is about 16" x 20".

I love that floral. When my girls were little, I never really made them any doll quilts -- well, one Barbie quilt. Now they're too big. So cute, though. Yes, at some point I'm going to post my quilt-along stars. Michael finally brought the camer a back from work.
I have a challenge for you, Jill: Try posting something sometime that isn't really, really cute. Good luck. Also, I really, really, really want you to teach me how to do the machine quilting. Really.
Great doll quilt. I made two nine patches when my girls were young and that was all. I would love to be where I could do some again.
