Lila Tueller Shirt

I bought this pattern as soon as it came out. Then I had to wait for the fabric to come out. Then I had to find the time to make it. Finally a few weeks ago I finished it up. The shirt has zipper on the side and I am slow with zippers. I used to be speedy with zippers, but I hated the way they looked. So now I set them in by hand and I like my results much better.
I really love the way the shirt turned out, it fits nicely, and the instructions were clear. I will probably make it again in different fabrics. I will probably lengthen it next time for variety, and I would also like to try some bell sleeves.

Blocks 12 & 13

All the blocks are finished! I found the backing I want to use and am ready to get it all put together. I still need to decide on a border and binding, but I am sure I have materials to cover both. I just need to get everything laid out while the kids are at school. One of the blocks will be used in the backing because I am laying out the pattern into a twin size instead of a larger square. I need to play around with things to decide which one.

Blocks 10 & 11

I realized that I need to piece this quilt prior to Spring Break so my son, the recipient, isn't hanging around watching me. I sew so much, he may not notice, but I don't want to risk it. So I have stepped it up and will hopefully be finishing up in the next few weeks. I have been having trouble starting a few other quilt-a-longs I want to join, so I am hoping finishing this one up will free up the space in my brain.

Star Block 9

The gray fabric has light gray stars on it. I am pretty sure I am going to quilt this quilt with meandering stars, it will fit the theme. I spoke with Jessica, and she is doing a few blocks, so I may take this as the green light to work ahead. I need to ensure an end date by the third week in April.

Doll Quilt

I am usually pretty terrible about using scraps and small pieces of fabric. But a few months ago Amanda Jean posted about some doll quilts she had been making. I simply couldn't resist. I made the girls one each for Christmas, along with matching pillows and cases. I used scraps and bright fabrics they loved. Then, I was asked to come up with a basic sewing project for a mini class at church, and a doll quilt was perfect. They come together so fast, don't take too much fabric, and are great for practicing new quilting stitches. All fabric used in the above quilt were scraps and leftovers from other things. I free motion quilted little daisies and loops, I love they way they look. The white fabric actually has little shiny polka dots on it-LakeHouse I believe. And the big flowers are Michael Miller. I backed it with a fat quarter that is pink with white polka dots.

Sophie has been using this quilt all over the place. She tucks in all sorts of dolls and action figures. Covers up the play kitchen sink with it, and uses it as a lap quilt when she is in her stroller. It is about 16" x 20".

Block 7

There are three different fabrics in this block despite the picture. For some reason I couldn't quite capture the difference between the white fabric and the grey.

Even close up it is hard to tell that the middle triangle is not completely white. But I assure you, it is a cloudy grey and there is contrast. This block puts me over half way finished with all the blocks. I am getting really excited about finishing this project up.
