Block 4

The gray fabric is not as dark in reality. I am still looking for a backing. Moda has a navy blue with red stars on it that coordinates, I am thinking that may be more of a patriotic look though. But finding navy fabric is much harder than I thought. I may have to go up to Quilts etc. to see what they have. I want to have all the pieces in place so when I do get to the putting it all together part, I will have every thing I need. Which means I also need to decide what to use for binding and get it made. I almost always do my binding while I am cutting out all the other fabrics. I love having it all ready to go when it comes time to attach it to the quilt.

Your are way more organized than I am. Sometimes my quilts sit for years without being bound. You would think that I would plan farther ahead so that I would know what to bind them with, but this is just now occurring to me. I usually quilt by the seat of my pants -- not totally planned out. I think I need a new MO, though, because I have so many UFOs. Clearly, I need to rethink.

It would be better if I could make my binding ahead of time. See, even with this star quilt-along I have not even thought about what I'm going to bind it in, what I'll put on the back. I plan out the tops so meticulously. I guess now it's time to branch out a little more.

I just bought regular muslin -- a bolt of it when it was 1/2 off at Joann's. It was 25 yards. I'm getting to the end of it now, but I love that I did that. I even ended up dying some of it to get the back I wanted when I didn't have another choice (and I couldn't go buy it).
