Jessica, someone she knows named Jann (hi Jann, I'm Jill!) and I are doing crazy mom quilts start quilt along amongst ourselves. She came up with it and completed it months ago, but we weren't aware at the time so we decided to be co-dependant and do it now. There are links on her sidebar to all the blocks and directions and such if you and your friends feel so inclined to do the same. Or if you'd like to join in with us, just let me know!
Here is my first block. I really love the way it turned out. The back ground is a navy solid. The white is a white on white star print.
I am intending to make this into a quilt for Jack's bed for his birthday. I got some awesome star wars sheets for him that will match these colors. But I didn't want the quilt too star warsy, in the event he outgrows it, unlikely. I have plans to put some reds and blacks in the other blocks, but the main colors will be white and navy. I think we are doing a block a week? Is that right Jess? Anyway, I will probably try and put together the setting squares in the mean time instead of at the end. His birthday is in April, so there is ever possibility this will be complete by then.

I wish I had finished all of the quilts i wanted to when I was young but you girls are doing enough for me and you. I still have lots of patterns and hope when I get finished with school my eyes willl be good enough that i will be able to make some. This one you are doing will be very wonderful.
Yes, we are doing a block a week. And of course, anyone else who wants to can join us. We're going from Friday to Friday, so tomorrow starts block 2 in the star quilt-along. It's a good idea to do your setting blocks ahead of time. I think that's what Amanda Jean suggested anyway. Love how it turned out. It's going to go great with the Star Wars sheets.
I am struggling too with not doing more than one at a time, but this way, I actually finish the block instead of getting overwhelmed by the whole project and then dropping it. It will otherwise turn into yet another UFO. I do think I may get started next week on the sashing. Jann does have a blog, but it's not quilt-related. She was out of town last week, and I haven't heard back from her yet this week. I'll post her stuff if she doesn't.
