Block 6

I think this post may be late? Is it Jess? We've had guests this week, so I have been a little distracted. I did finish my Lila Tueller Peasant Blouse. I will post about it later. I have gone to three fabric stores this week and thus far, bought no fabric! I don't know if that is good self control, or if I am really just anxious to work on this quilt. I really want to have it ready for Jack's birthday, so I may work ahead the last few weeks. I am almost settled on a backing, and I have a lot of the navy blue left over, so I will probably bind with that.

For Henry

Wandering through the fabric store a few weeks ago I noticed all these fabulous brown and green fabrics. Something about them reminded me of my friend Crystal and I thought-perfect, she is having a baby anytime. I have seen a few zigzag quilts around and really wanted to make one. I must say, I love how it turned out. I definitely want to make another one. I think I may do a few for the kids in twin size once I finish my quilt-a-long quilt.
I held off on posting this until I knew the momma and baby had received the package, and it sounds like they like it! Yay!

Valentine Loot Bags

On impulse I bought this fabric last Wednesday. I have a habit of frequenting the fabric store while B is at gymnastics. These are just simple drawstring bags to hold all the valentine treats the kids got. The were filled with treats-so of course, they were a hit. I have a friend who is making a quilt with this fabric (it's Moda), and I can't wait to see it all finished.

Block 4

The gray fabric is not as dark in reality. I am still looking for a backing. Moda has a navy blue with red stars on it that coordinates, I am thinking that may be more of a patriotic look though. But finding navy fabric is much harder than I thought. I may have to go up to Quilts etc. to see what they have. I want to have all the pieces in place so when I do get to the putting it all together part, I will have every thing I need. Which means I also need to decide what to use for binding and get it made. I almost always do my binding while I am cutting out all the other fabrics. I love having it all ready to go when it comes time to attach it to the quilt.

Block 3

I think I will also cut out the sashing and binding this week while I make Block 4. I am thinking one or the other, otherwise I will be very tempted to work ahead for the rest of the weeks.

I am in progress of making a list of current projects. Some things got stashed away while we were putting in the new floor last fall, and I am now rediscovering them. I have some projects that I have no desire to finish right now, so they may not make the list.

Log Cabin Christmas Throw Quilt
Pink Lemonade Twin Quilt
Green/Brown Baby Quilt
Lila Tueller Shirt
Fairy Pillow
Wonderful Pillow
Star Pillow
Name Pillows for Bell and Soph
Sophie's Stocking

Hopefully writing them down will encourage me even further to complete them. Then I can delve into my other things that I have started and see what I want to do with them. Sometimes when I lose the will to finish, I am better off just getting rid of the whole thing. This usually tends to be baby clothes I started making and the baby is now too big. Or things for me that I realized will not fit or I don't like anymore. We'll see, I am sure I am a few months from even delving into those issues.

Star Quilt Setting Squares

I am loving how the setting squares turned out! They consist of mainly four-patch units and went together very fast. I used a white kona cotton instead of my white on white star print I am using in the rest of the quilt. I think the blocks will look even better when all the stars join them! I will post Block 3 tomorrow.

I am really excited Jessica and I picked very different fabrics. I am sure I will want to make some girl colors after I finish this one. I am still on the lookout for a back for this one. I do want to do some piecing, but I just haven't found what I am looking for yet.
